| Eating 100 snacks! |
This was another short week with the 100th day and a snow day smack in the middle of the week.
In Literacy we learned how to write uppercase letters M and N. We practiced decoding words by segmenting into the onset and rime (/c/ /at/, /t/ /op/) and segmenting the phonemes (/c/ /a/ /t/) to read the word. We have been working on comprehension skills during our leveled reading groups and read alouds.
In Math we began our 4th Module focusing on composing and decomposing numbers. Students will be using a number bond to show putting numbers together and taking numbers apart. See the attached link to learn more about how we use number bonds to teach these important math concepts.

| Counting 100 snacks! |
We celebrated the 100th day of School on Tuesday. Students did a great Job creating their projects last week which we shared during a museum walk. Students are currently in the process of sharing them more specifically during our morning sharing time at morning meeting. We also made a special snack with pieces. Students had to count out precisely 100 items before they could eat their snack.

Thursday was a day of testing. Mrs. Forrest took over the classroom while I pulled students to to the Primary Number and Operations Assessment (PNOA). This is an extensive math screener we use to gather data about students' math concepts. We use this data to help inform our instruction and to target learning during our math groups. Each students takes anywhere between 20 and 50 minutes to complete (oral interview). I was extremely impressed with how focused students remained and the effort they put into the process.
We had ECO on Friday afternoon where students became nature detectives looking for animal tracks and other signs of animals in the winter. We also learned how various animals move (walkers, waddlers, bounders, and hoppers). Our next ECO lesson will be March 30th when we will be once again doing out for the duration of the afternoon (11:30 - 2:30).
