Top of the Morning!
It was another disrupted week with a snow day right in the middle. It seems like our taste of spring we had in February has taken a turn back toward winter, with more snow than we've seen most of the winter.
In literacy we learned how to write the letters S and T. We continue to work on segmenting and blending sounds in words to decode CVC words. During writers workshop student worked on one final informative text piece.
During math we worked on finding what number that goes with 5 to make a number (5 + n = 7).
using cubes and a number bond model. ⮌⮌⮌⮌⮌ ⮌⮌
We also worked more on writing equations to go with our number bond. 7 = 5 + 2 or 5 + 2 = 7
We spent time sledding with our Buddies (Ms. Tewhill's second grade) on Friday afternoon, and had fun designing and building a Leprechaun Trap! Students will be eager to see if their traps worked on Monday Morning. (I have pictures to share, but I'm have technical difficulties downloading them)
Reminder: next week is a short week. Students have a half day on Wednesday and no school Thursday and Friday.
Student Led conferences on Thursday, March 22nd!! As of Friday afternoon, I still only have 6 families signed up. Please call the school office (888-3101) to schedule you appointment. Remember, you must bring your kindergartener with you. We encourage you to find alternative care for siblings, as we have found conferences are more successful when you child has your full attention.
Families are invited to join their child for Breakfast on Tuesday, March 20th. Please notify the school no later than Monday if you plan to attend so the kitchen staff can plan accordingly.
