As I sit here on a quiet Easter morning with my dogs snoozing nearby, I'm reflecting on how Easter morning has changed from years past. Today, my husband was off to work at 4:30 this morning, my oldest son is away in DC at college, and my 18 year old is still sleeping. For most of you, I imagine the Easter Bunny has come and my eager students have searched for hidden eggs and excitedly discovered their easter baskets filled with goodies left by the Easter Bunny. I wish you all a happy and peaceful day filled with joy and wonder.
Last week we finished our uppercase letters! Students wondered "What will we learn next?". We began learning consonant digraphs (sh and ch). We also read a new sight word book, which reviewed some of our sight words. During literacy groups, students read leveled books during guided reading.
During writers workshop we began a new unit. During this unit we will focus on writing personal narratives (true stories).
In Math we began learning about the concept of subtraction by using math stories with take away situation.
Due to adverse weather conditions on Friday, we decided to postpone ECO until Monday, April 2nd. We'll be learning about concepts of Force and Motion.
OUr next ECO lesson will take place on Monday, April 9th (in just one week), due to an assembly on April 13th. Please let me know if you are available to volunteer.
Mastery reports should be mailed out this week. Please review your child's report and let me know if you have any questions of concerns.
