week 14

Our first trimester has come to a close.  It was a rather quiet week with several children out sick throughout the week.  In Literacy we learned three new letters: h, l, k.  and in math we began our next unit.  This week students have been comparing length using vocabulary such as longer and shorter or taller and shorter.  Then we used non standard units of measurement by measuring items using cube sticks ("My pencil is 9 cubes long").  We will need to spend some time reviewing these skills next week.

Reminder that next week we have an early dismissal on Tuesday, Dec. 4th.  Lunch will be served in classrooms before dismissal.  School releases at 12:00.

We have ECO on Monday and Friday next week.   Please send children with extra mittens, warm socks, a hat, warm coat and snow pants, and boots.  It may be raining on Monday, so if you do have rain paints you may want to send those for your child to wear over or under their snow pants.

Book orders went home in friday folders.  This is a great way to pick up some great books at a reasonable price for Christmas gift giving.   Please Place your orders online, or submit payment to me along with your order form by Friday, Dec. 7th..  This will assure that books arrive prior to Christmas.  If you need to make this a surprise, let me know so I can get the books directly to you.
