In literacy this week we learned how to write the letters T and U. We continue to practice segmenting and blending CVC* words to read them (decoding). Students are researching their nature names and will begin writing their reports next week.
In math we practiced finding the sum of two numbers using number stories.
Our TRY lesson on Monday focused on reducing waste (using less of something).
As we move into the the warmer spring season, please be mindful that until the snow is gone, students need their boots and snow pants. As the now melts we will be contending with very wet conditions. Students may want to have extra pants and socks to change into if they soak through their boots and snow pants. Shorts and short sleeves will not be allowed outside until the snow is gone.
This also begins a season of busy afternoons and evenings with many children participating in after school activities. While we want our students to have extracurricular experiences, its a good time to remind you that allowing some down time after school and keeping a familiar routine (as much as possible) is also important. Kindergarten students still need 10-12 hours of sleep (depending on the child) daily.
Reminders:
Thursday, April 4th is an early dismissal for teacher professional development. Lunch will be served before dismissal. Students will be dismissed at 12:00
ECO is April 5th. It will be wet! If you have extra mittens and rain pants, please send them. Students should still have snow boots. Rain boots will not keep them warm enough.
