- Care for yourself
- Care for each other
- Care for our classroom
In Literacy for worked on our phonics routines with the letter Tt. Students sorted items that began with /t/ and didn't begin with /t/. We practiced writing t using rainbow writing, and drew or colored things that began with /t/. Later in the week we learned about the letter Bb. Students learned the name, keyword, sound and practiced letter formation on our Fundations lines using our write boards and workbooks.
We read the book The Little Engine that Could by Watty Piper. We are using this book to introduce the concept of Perseverance which is not only one of our school rules, but also one of our scholarly habits. After we read the book we identified thing we can do now that were once hard for us to do. Then students drew pictures to show what they can do. Students dictated I can.... statements for their pictures. Check our your students work on the bulletin board in the hall outside our classroom!
In math began to establish routines of math stations. We focused this week on number formation 1-3 and identifying quantities up to 4. While some of these things may seem basic, write now we are working a lot on establishing routines and learning expectations. While many children already now these numbers, almost all need to work on number formation.
As we gear up for our first full week of school, I wish you all a peaceful and relaxing weekend!
