During the next couple of weeks we will be assessing students in both reading and mathematics. Students will take the STAR early literacy assessment. This is a online screener to assess early reading strengths and weaknesses. This is the third (last) benchmark of the year. It will show students growth of the year and first grade teachers will be able to use this data to inform them about students coming into their classes. I will also begin assessing students' reading level next week. The following week, we will be administering the third (last) benchmark of the Primary Numbers and Operations Assessment (PNOA). This assessment shows strengths and weaknesses in mathematics skills and concepts. We will see growth over the year and first grade teachers will be able to gage student needs at the beginning of next year.

Elmore students will be visiting Elmore School next Thursday morning.
Morrisville Students will meet the first grade teachers on June 5th. First grade teachers will come to our classrooms to meet students and then we will tour their classrooms later in the day.
We had another amazing ECO Yesterday. The rain subsided mid morning which allowed us to enjoy the bulk of the morning outdoors. Our Theme was Animal Olympics. Students participated in the Beaver Stick Javelin toss; hedgehog bowling; Deer Long Jump; and Squirrel Nut Catapult. Though we ran out of time for forest choice, fun was hd by all.
